8 tips for beautiful multimedia
I found a link to this article on the always-great Duckrabbit blog.
Benjamin mentioned a very good point. To do a good interview you need to be in the right frame of mind: empathize and think that you can learn something from the interviewee.
I’d like to underline something from that articole, too. About the use of photographs, because ultimately I am a photographer even thou I like (and do) more and more video:
5. Photos or Video?
As each day passes, more and more multimedia stories are being filled with video rather than photos. Perhaps it’s because, traditionally, photography has been more accessible to most of us than fancy 35mm film cameras that cost tens of thousands of dollars. Now, with the evolution of video on DSLR cameras, it’s easier and cheaper to shoot high-end video. But don’t forget photography.
We try to constantly use photography in our stories and incorporate video when it contributes to the story. Photography captures moments, allows you to slow down and reflect. Video, on the other hand, is perfect for action and is capable of capturing the reality of that experience in a way that photography can’t.
I absolutely agree (the bold is mine) with the fact that photography and video should be used together, to emphasize different aspect of the story you are editing.
Ghetto Classics
Eventually, I finished editing the first feature from last month’s trip to Kenya.
The Ghetto Classics Project was started in June 2009 in a partnership between the Art of Music and the Kutoka Network – a network of parishes and organizations working in the urban slums, working to creates policies and new plans to help slum dwellers work their way out of poverty.
The Ghetto Classics project encompasses about thirty youth from St John’s Catholic Church, Korogocho whose ages range from 11 – 21 years. It involves the children having weekly choral and instrumental training in partnership with the Kenya Conservatoire of Music.

Some views of London really surprise me.

Polska biało czerwoni
I’m back from Poland where I have been on a magazine assignment (out in January, I think).
It has been a nice trip, but bloody cold! (and I also saw the second football match in my life!)

Uganda
Doctors With Africa Cuamm are organizing in Padova, Italy, a day of talks and events about maternity in Africa. And some of the videos made last year in Aber, Uganda, are featured in their website.
After Jugo shortlisted for Dali Festival
After Jugo has been shortlisted for the Interactive section of the New Media Contest of Dali International Photography Exhibition.
The exhibitions will run from the 25th to the 29th of September and on the 26th there will be an evening screening of the shortlisted projects.
Cirque Nova
Cirque Nova does training programs of circus skills for people with disabilities and disadvantaged young people in general.
I have been shooting their rehearsals and enjoying it a lot. A multimedia piece will follow (hopefully) soon.

Zero Food Miles
In July I have been to Scotland with Aldo to discover a not-well-known region near the border with England: Dumfries and Galloway.
The result will be a multimedia piece about producers that can be found along the road with a focus on sustainability.
Also, a selection of pictures can be seen in 4CornersImages website.
